Mechanicsburg FFA Places 2nd at State Contest

On April 2, Mechanicsburg FFA general livestock and equine judging teams traveled to Columbus, Ohio to compete at the state judging contest. The general livestock team placed 2nd overall. Jake McDonald placed 6th, Caleb Martin placed 18th, Miranda Lauchard placed 38th, Jaycie Patterson placed 49th and the first alternate Elly Schipfer placed 131th. The equine team placed 44th, with Ashley Dailey placing 66th, Kylie Owen placing 166th and Wyat Woodburn in 330th.

On April 9, the dairy judging team traveled to ATI in Wooster, Ohio. The team placed 6th with Kadey Starkey placing 10th, Gus Hoewischer placing 13th, Heath Starkey in 21st and the first alternate Wyatt Snyder in 139th. The general livestock, meat and dairy judging team will compete at the state finals on April 30 on the campus of The Ohio State University.

With the end of the year coming to a close soon, there are many banquets that will be coming up for the FFA. State convention will be May 5-6. At this year’s convention, we will have state degrees, gold rated officer books, band, choir and science fair being recognized. The FFA banquet will be the following day, May 7, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Mechanicsburg High School. Admission is free but donations will be accepted. Dinner will be served around 7 p.m. All awards will be given out and CDE teams will be recognized. Please reserve your spot to Mr. Neer (neerk@mcburg.org) or (937) 834-2453 ext. 3027 by May 1.
