Even though I’m retired, I keep an eye on what’s going on with the Mechanicsburg Schools. I spent most of my working life there and the people of Mechanicsburg were very good to me. I was delighted to see that there were more women running for the school board in this election. This is not to say that there is anything wrong with male board members, because we’ve had some outstanding ones. But it’s always good to have different perspectives when making the decisions that affect the school. I have very fond memories of the years that Kay Miller was on the board. I remember how she used to visit the teachers and talk with them individually to seek out their opinions and ideas. When it’s time to cast your ballot, I hope you will consider at least one or better yet, all of them.
