MECHANICSBURG – Oak Grove New Life Ministry, 11160 Rosedale Road, Mechanicsburg, will observe the 60th anniversary of it’s current building with a program Sunday, Nov. 13. The event will begin at 10 a.m.

The church building was dedicated Nov. 15, 1956. The congregation history goes back even further. A group of people started meeting in the home of John and Sarah Vanhoose for church for a few years. The first church Oak Grove Church of Christ in Christian Union was constructed in 1930 next the the Vanhoose home. As the congregation grew a large building was needed that could hold nearly 300 people. Most the work was done by members of the church which helped when many members where builders themselves including Joe Burgess, Earl Love, John Love, and Tony Carter.

In 1995 the church was hit hard after the pastor Rev. Chester Demint and his wife Lois were killed in a car wreck and then the following year the church had a major fire that required rebuilding most the inside. The current pastor is Rev. Dale Fitch. Anyone who ever attended the church is invited to attend as well as the public. Lunch will follow, provided by the church. For more information call 937-573-6406.
